Incident Sample

Incident hazards cover infrastructure and transport disruptions — roads, bridges, rail, pipelines, power, water, and industrial sites. The sample below is a RAIL incident — intercity train cancellations between Pune and Mumbai, India, corroborated across 36 articles.

These hazards are returned by the /osint-hazards-query endpoint, which requires a specific role on your credentials.

Sub-types (hazard_sub_type): ROAD_CLOSURE, BRIDGE, RAIL, PIPELINE, POWER, INDUSTRIAL, WATER, OTHER (default)

There is no PORT or AIRPORT sub-type. A strike that shuts a port or airport is typed by the event — a dockworkers' strike is CIVILUNREST / STRIKE, not an INCIDENT. To find port and airport disruptions, filter with supply_chain=true and read SupplyChainInfrastructure.

Type-Specific Properties

Sub-types identify the infrastructure disrupted, so sub_type is the natural way to narrow this type — for example sub_type=RAIL,ROAD_CLOSURE.

Supply-chain fields

Incident hazards are the type most likely to be returned by supply_chain=true. In the sample below, intercity train cancellations give SupplyChainInfrastructure: RAIL and SupplyChainDisruptionType: CLOSURE.

Note that SupplyChainImpact is only ever true — it is absent entirely from hazards with no supply-chain dimension, rather than being set to false. Test for the field's presence rather than comparing it to false. See Supply-Chain Fields for the full controlled vocabularies.
